Rum Highland Cattle on the move (c) Sean Morris

Cute Cow calf (c) Sean MorrisA herd of about 30 highland cattle are used to manage grassland habitats on the NNR. These hardy traditional cattle graze down the course rank grass species allowing a more diverse number of species of plants to flourish. The cattle can usually be found in Harris but are moved to Guirdil in the summer months to work their magic there.
