The Community Shop
The Isle of Rum Community Shop is run entirely on a voluntary basis by members of the community. It is small, but well-stocked with a wide range of groceries, beers, wines and spirits. You can find us next to the Village Hall.
If you are planning to visit Rum as part of a large group, groceries, fruit, veg and meat can be pre-ordered, but please let us know at least THREE WEEKS in advance so we can organise your order. Please phone the shop during opening hours.
Opening hours are 5-7.30, but it is quite possible to find us open during the day too! Telephone 01687 462199
Post Office
You will also find our local post office here at the shop. Check out the poster for opening hours.
Craft shop
The Rum Craft Co-operative is open most afternoons or by request for a wide range of local hand-made original arts and crafts.
You can find us on the front road by the red phone box.
Individual wooden furniture, crafted from timber sourced on Rum also made by local designer. Ask for further details at the craft shop.
Tea shop
The tea-shop is open daily (11am – 4pm) in the cosy Rum community hall from April until September.
Tea, coffee, fresh home baking, home made soup and a range of sandwiches are available. There is also often a chance to try some Rum venison stew.
To avoid disappointment it is advisable for large groups who are planning to visit the island to phone ahead of your visit to let us know the numbers in your group and when you intend to visit. Please contact the reserve office – 01687 462026.
